Wondae-ri Birch Forest

About the attraction

Birch was planted where diseased pines had been felled, and that planting is the forest now. The white trunks stand straight, and when snow falls in winter tree and ground read as one colour. You leave the car at the visitor centre and walk about three kilometres of forest road to reach it, so allow two to three hours there and back. There is no admission or parking fee. The path ices over in winter and needs crampons, and entry is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
