Seokguram Grotto

About the attraction

Not a natural cave but a chamber assembled from dressed granite, with the principal Buddha seated inside. It is said to have been oriented so that the sun rising over the East Sea would strike the statue's brow. Because of damp it is now viewed through glass, and photography inside is not allowed. There is no admission charge, only parking. Hours shift by season, closing earliest in winter. The mountain road from Bulguksa leads up to it.
