Sangdangsanseong Fortress

About the attraction

A Joseon-era mountain fortress ringing the ridge east of Cheongju, with some four kilometres of path following the wall right round. There are climbs but nothing severe, and locals walk it the way you walk a park. From the wall you look down on the city and its reservoir. There is no admission, no parking fee and no set hours. In the village inside the walls, restaurants serving set meals and tofu dishes cluster together for afterwards.
