About the attraction

Black bamboo grows around the house, which is where the name comes from. Shin Saimdang lived here and her son Yi I was born in this room. Both now appear on Korean banknotes — the 50,000 and the 5,000 — and the currency exhibition next door tells that story. Open nine to six with last entry an hour before. The municipal museum shares the grounds and the same ticket. Guided walks can be requested.
