Mireuksa Temple Site

About the attraction

A great temple built under King Mu of Baekje stood here; the buildings are gone and only the western stone pagoda survives. It is the largest and oldest stone pagoda in Korea, and a twenty-year programme of dismantling and rebuilding it has now finished. Foundation stones lie exposed across the open ground, giving the scale of what stood here. It is part of the UNESCO Baekje Historic Areas. Entry is free; park at the Iksan National Museum and walk five minutes.
