Jongmyo Shrine

About the attraction

It houses the spirit tablets of the kings and queens, and because it is a place of ritual the buildings carry almost no ornament. Jeongjeon is the longest wooden structure in Korea. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On most weekdays entry is timed and guided; on Saturdays and Culture Day you walk it freely. Open nine to six, a little later in summer. Five minutes on foot from Jongno 3-ga Station.
