Haemi Fortress

About the attraction

Raised in the early Joseon period against Japanese raiders, it keeps its walls, gates and the government buildings inside. Because it encircles a whole settlement rather than crowning a hill, the ground within is level and broad. Catholics were executed here in the nineteenth century, and traces of that history are part of the visit. Neither entry nor parking costs anything. In summer it is open from five in the morning to nine at night.
