Gyeonggijeon Shrine

About the attraction

It was built to enshrine the royal portrait of Yi Seong-gye, who founded Joseon, and rests on the fact that Jeonju was his clan's ancestral home. The Royal Portrait Museum inside holds the Taejo portrait, designated a national treasure. Old trees crowd the walled grounds, making it somewhere to sit for a while mid-walk. Open nine to six, with the ticket office closing half an hour earlier. There is no parking of its own; the village public lots are used.
