Gueom Port

About the attraction

A small harbour on the Aewol coastal road. Here the basalt shore was levelled and banked with clay to hold seawater and make salt. These are the stone salt pans, and they are still in place. No salt is made now, but the squared-off cells cut into the rock can be seen. It is open at any hour and free. It faces west, so at sunset the sky reflects in every flooded cell.
