Bijarim Forest

About the attraction

A forest of nutmeg yew alone, holding around 2,800 trees between five and eight hundred years old. Stands of a single species at that age are rare. Volcanic scoria is laid underfoot, so the walking sounds different, and the route divides into a level course and a longer loop. A circuit takes about an hour. The forest smells strongest in the rain, and some people come deliberately then. Parking is free.
